The Selma Stern Center for Jewish Studies Berlin-Brandenburg (ZJS) is a cooperative project of the Humboldt University of Berlin (HU), the Free University of Berlin (FU), the Technical University of Berlin (TU), the University of Potsdam (UP), the European University Viadrina Frankfurt (Oder) (Viadrina), the Abraham Geiger College (AGK), and the Moses Mendelssohn Center for European-Jewish Studies (MMZ). Applications invited for 2 positions as doctoral research assistants with 1/2-part-time-employment - E 13 TV-L HU (third party funding, short-term until 31.03.2022) at the Department of Cultural History and Theory, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences at Humboldt University of Berlin.

 

Job description: In addition to working on their own dissertation projects, successful candidates will be part of a research group led by a postdoctoral scholar, Dr. Fiedler. They will be expected to play an active role in Selma Stern Center events and assist in their planning.

Requirements: A university degree, completed within the last two years, in one of the following fields: Jewish studies, philosophy, sociology, history, literature, or cultural studies. Applicants must also have a very good command of German and English and, potentially, fluency in another language relevant to their project. To apply for one of these posts, candidates should submit a project proposal for a doctoral thesis that falls within the research area “The history of modern Jewish Politics” (Diaspora – Migration – Transnationality).
